Polaris Students Grab Silver Medal at National Skills Championships

Seven Polaris students recently competed at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Louisville, Ky. SkillsUSA events give students the opportunity to showcase their skills in specific career-technical training areas. This year, thousands of students from around the United States competed in over 90 different skills challenges.

The City of Brook Park RX Drug Drop Box Program Information

Please drop off your unused prescriptions in the lobby of the Brook Park Police Station. Prescription opiates are often the gateway to heroin addiction. Prescription opiates are commonly found in many medicine cabinets. It is vital that old prescriptions be properly disposed to keep our family’s safe. Pills left unattended in a bathroom or medicine cabinet can be easily taken and misused.

Milkweed: The hidden toxin that Monarchs love

The Monarch Butterfly is the most familiar butterfly in North America. With their easily recognizable black, orange, and white wings they are quite hard to miss. There are many plants and flowers that will attract the Monarch and other butterflies but one plant that is a necessity for the Monarch is the Milkweed. While the Milkweed may attract Monarch Butterflies, it is a dangerous plant to have around our pets, our children, and even adults.
